Child Safety Standards
Last updated: July 2026
Randoms is a registered-user social platform — not an anonymous or random chat application.
Every user must create an account and authenticate before accessing any feature. There is no guest access, no anonymous messaging, and no unmoderated contact between users. This document outlines our comprehensive approach to child safety, content moderation, and user protection.
1. How Randoms Works
1.1 Registration Required
All users must register with a valid account before accessing any feature of Randoms. There is no guest browsing, no anonymous posting, and no way to interact with other users without being authenticated and identifiable.
1.2 Message Controls & Request Gates
Randoms employs a multi-layered messaging system designed to prevent unwanted contact:
- Message Requests Folder: Messages from users you do not follow are automatically routed to a separate Requests folder — they never appear in your main inbox until you accept them.
- Daily Rate Limiting: Unaccepted requesters are limited to 2 messages per day, preventing harassment or spam.
- Granular Privacy Controls: Each user can set who may message them:
- Everyone — Messages go to Requests if you don't follow the sender
- Followers Only — Only your followers can initiate messages
- People You Follow — Only accounts you follow can message you
- No One — Disables all incoming messages
- Accept or Decline: You must explicitly accept a message request before the sender can message you freely. Until then, the conversation remains in the Requests folder.
- Block & Delete: Any request can be permanently blocked or deleted with a single tap. Blocked users cannot find your profile or contact you again.
1.3 Content Filtering
Users have additional tools to control what reaches them:
- Automatic Nudity Detection: Messages containing detected nudity or explicit imagery are automatically blocked before delivery.
- Obscenity Filters: Messages with obscene or abusive language are filtered.
- Custom Keyword Filters: Each user can define their own list of blocked words — any message containing those words is automatically rejected.
Key Distinction: Randoms is fundamentally different from anonymous or random chat apps. Every user is registered and identifiable. No one can message you without your consent being respected through the Request system. Minors are protected by these same controls plus additional safeguards described below.
2. Zero-Tolerance for Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE)
Randoms has a zero-tolerance policy toward any content or activity that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers minors. This includes but is not limited to:
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) in any form — images, video, text, or links
- Grooming behavior — building emotional connections with a minor for sexual purposes
- Sextortion — threatening to expose intimate content of a minor
- Trafficking or exploitation of minors
- Content that sexualizes children or promotes inappropriate interactions with minors
- Attempting to bypass our age verification or registration requirements
Consequences: Any user found violating this policy will be:
- Immediately and permanently banned from the platform
- Reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC)
- Reported to appropriate law enforcement authorities where required by law
- All associated data preserved for investigative purposes in accordance with our Privacy Policy
3. Reporting CSAE and CSAM
3.1 In-App Reporting
Every post, profile, comment, and message on Randoms includes a Report option accessible from the content menu. Reports can be submitted for:
- Child sexual abuse material
- Grooming or suspicious behavior toward minors
- Harassment or bullying
- Impersonation of a minor
- Any other safety concern
3.2 Direct Contact
3.3 External Reporting Resources
4. How We Handle CSAM Reports
- Immediate Triage (within hours): Trained moderators review the reported content. CSAM reports are prioritized above all other moderation tasks.
- Content Removal: Confirmed CSAM is removed immediately from the platform.
- Permanent Ban: The uploading account is permanently banned with no appeal.
- Evidence Preservation: All relevant data (content, account details, IP logs) is preserved for law enforcement.
- NCMEC Reporting: All apparent CSAM is reported to NCMEC's CyberTipline in compliance with 18 U.S.C. § 2258A.
- Law Enforcement Cooperation: We cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations, including providing preserved evidence upon valid legal request.
5. Prevention Measures
5.1 Proactive Detection
- Automated scanning of uploaded media for known CSAM using industry-standard hash-matching technologies
- AI-powered detection of new or unknown exploitative content
- Automated text scanning for grooming patterns and inappropriate language
5.2 User Education
- In-app safety tips and resources available in the Settings menu
- Clear community guidelines that all users must accept during registration
- Regular reminders about reporting tools and safety features
5.3 Age-Appropriate Design
- Age verification at registration
- Default privacy settings that favor safety for younger users
- Restricted discoverability for accounts identified as belonging to minors
6. Legal Compliance
Randoms complies with all applicable child protection laws, including but not limited to:
- United States: 18 U.S.C. § 2258A (reporting requirements), PROTECT Our Children Act
- European Union: GDPR Article 8 (child consent), Digital Services Act
- United Kingdom: Children's Code (Age Appropriate Design Code), Online Safety Act
- Australia: Online Safety Act 2021
We regularly review our practices against evolving legal requirements and update our policies accordingly.
7. Important: Randoms Is Not an Anonymous or Random Chat App
For the avoidance of doubt and in compliance with Google Play's Child Safety Standards:
- No anonymous access exists. Every user must register and authenticate.
- No random pairing or matching. Users choose who they interact with.
- No unmoderated direct messaging. All messages from non-followed users go through the Request gate with daily limits.
- Full user control. Every user can block, filter, and restrict who contacts them.
Randoms is a social media platform built on consent, control, and accountability. Our architecture reflects this at every level.

9. Policy Review & Updates
This policy is reviewed quarterly and updated as needed to reflect changes in our platform, legal requirements, and industry best practices. The last review was completed in July 2026.
